Since launching DUO-HUE in February 2021, Amelia has spent time working out what to do with her experimental samples, or samples with small defects. Amelia has always been keen to reduce her waste and focus on making her business more sustainable. During lockdown Amelia had to experiment with different colours, and stitches to create her collection that she launched with. Inevitably, some samples had mistakes but it felt like a crime to just chuck them in the bin, so Amelia (like most artists), hoarded them as she knew they could be turned into something exciting.

Over time she has always been obsessed with popping to vintage shops to search for interesting things and over time collected a variety of artist jackets and denim jackets that could be uplifted into something completely new and beautiful.

Amelia then put two and two together and started experimenting with using a technique called ‘appliqué’ to give these jackets a new lease of life and create some beautiful one of a kind, DUO-HUE garments. She now turns her studio waste into treasures and up-cycles a collection using her experiments and defected samples. Each garment showcases some beautiful and colourful embroidery to make a statement jacket. You can even get your hands on some samples sewn onto jackets created from her next collection launching later this year.

A range of artist and denim jackets have just been added to our website, so get your hands on one of these one of a kind vintage jackets before they all sell out!

FEATURED IN: Major House

A unique and contemporary holiday home in beautiful Newport, Pembrokeshire. The house is a listed building and required a lot of work to bring it back to life. It was all designed and built during the challenging year of 2020.

This house features our Navy and Rust Scatter Cushion S010 and one of our beautiful floating framed textile artworks. The house is owned by Black Door Stays and the interior design was done by Grace King at Studio Rey.

All photography for this project was taken by Chris Snook.
